Youtube gets frequent updates and sometimes they decide to change things about Youtube. Most updates fix existing bugs, but sometimes they also change things on a large scale, such as the layout. Such changes can make some users happy and others dissatisfied. Dissatisfied users may want to change their YouTube layout back to the way it was. In this article I will show you how to change Youtube layout on PC using three methods.
Method 1: Blocking the new YouTube layout using extensions
We can block this new layout with the uBlock Origin extension. Such extensions can provide features or features that are not available on the sites we visit. In this method, we will use the extension to customize YouTube the way we want and bring back the old layout. Here’s what you need to do to do this;
- Open your browser.
- Search for Chrome Web Store in the search bar.
- Click on the first result which is Chrome Web Store.
- After doing this, type uBlock Origin in the search bar on the right side.
- After doing this, click on uBlock Origin from the results.
- After clicking on uBlock Origin, click on Add to Chrome.
- Click on Add extension to continue. After clicking Add extension, the extension will be automatically added to our browser.
- Click on Extensions from the top right. The option with the puzzle icon.
- After clicking on Extensions, pin uBlock Origin.
- After pinning uBlock Origin, click on it.
- To open the dashboard click on the option with the gear icon.
- From Settings, Filter lists, My filters, My filters, My rules, Trusted sites, Support and About above, click on My filters.
- To bring back the old layout of Youtube, we need to add four filters. The filters we need to add are:
youtube.com##+js(set, yt.config_.EXPERIMENT_FLAGS.kevlar_watch_grid, false)
- Click Apply Changes next to Revert to save the changes we have made. This is important because if you don’t click Apply Changes, the filters you added will not work.
- Close your browser and open it again.
After reopening your browser, you can check if the old Youtube layout is back or not.
Method 2: Changing account to bring back to old Youtube layout
When big new features like these come along, they are not immediately available to everyone. First, a limited number of users are given some time to try out the new feature. Your account may be among the accounts trying out the new layout. Therefore, we can continue to use the old youtube layout by logging in to Youtube with another account. Here’s what you need to do to do this;
- Open your browser and then open Youtube.
- After opening Youtube, click on your profile icon at the top right. The profile you need to click on is the one next to the notification icon.
- After clicking on the profile icon, click on Switch account under Google Account.
- To add a new account you need to click on Add account above Sign out.
- Here, if you have another account, you need to enter the login details of that account, if you don’t have another account, you need to click on Create account next to Next.
- After entering your account details, you can click Next and log in to your account.
After logging in to your account, you can check if the problem is solved or not.
Method 3: Using different browser
This new layout may not yet be available in every browser. Browsers may need to update themselves to offer this feature, or some updates may not be released for some browsers because of the way they work. That’s why we’re going to change our browser to bring back the old layout. Here are some browsers you can use as an alternative to Chrome;
- Opera, Brave, Edge, Firefox. Of course, you can choose a browser other than these browsers. All you need to do is change your current browser.
After changing your browser you can check if the old Youtube layout is back.
In this tutorial I showed you how to change Youtube layout on PC with three different methods. I hope one of the methods worked for you and your Youtube layout problem is solved. Until next time, take care.
