Method 1: Optimizing PC to Fix Roblox Not Launching

The first method consists of three simple steps, each of which can be quite effective in resolving the Roblox not launching problem. The first step is to clear the cache files of Roblox. Cache files are temporary files stored on our computer and browser for both the Roblox website and Roblox Player. These cache files contain temporary information such as login credentials, which allow us to log in to our Roblox account without entering credentials every time or to load Roblox Player more quickly. However, accumulated cache files can sometimes cause problems like Roblox not launching. Therefore, we will clear Roblox’s cache files from both the browser and PC. Here’s how:

To delete from browser:

  • Open your browser.
  • After opening your browser, click on the three vertical dots at the top right.
  • Scroll down and find the Settings option among the other options.
  • After clicking Settings, click on Privacy and security from the left menu.
  • Click on Third-party cookies under Privacy and security.
  • Scroll down and click on See all site data and permissions.
  • Click on the search bar next to All sites and type Roblox.
  • After typing Roblox click on the trash icon next to roblox.com.
  • Click Delete to continue. Note that deleting this data will require you to log in to your account again.

To delete from PC:

  • Go search and type Run.
  • After opening Run, type %temp% in the Run bar.
  • After typing %temp%, click on OK.
  • In the folder that opens, find Roblox folder. If you have difficulty finding the Roblox folder, you can type Roblox in the search bar on the top right.
  • After finding the Roblox folder, right click on it.
  • To delete Roblox’s cache files click on the trash icon.

The second step is to change the compatibility settings of Roblox. The current compatibility settings of Roblox may be causing the Roblox not launching problem. Sometimes, Roblox may encounter issues due to lack of necessary permissions when trying to run. By changing the compatibility settings of Roblox, we can fix these issues and potentially resolve the Roblox not launching problem. Here’s how:

  • Right click on Roblox Player.
  • After right clicking on Roblox, click on Properties. The option with the wrench icon under Copy as path. You can also open Properties by clicking on Roblox Player and pressing Alt and Enter.
  • After opening Properties, click on Compatibility from the options above.
  • From the Compatibility mode section tick Run this program in compatibility mode for and select Windows 8.
  • In the Settings section below, tick Disable fullscreen optimizations and Run this program as an administrator.
  • Click Apply and OK to save the changes.
  • Go Search and type Control Panel.
  • Open Control Panel and click on System and Security.
  • Click on Windows Defender Firewall.
  • After clicking on Windows Defender Firewall, click on Allow an app or feature through Windows Defender Firewall.
  • To able to allow Roblox through Windows Defender Firewall, click on Change settings.
  • To add Roblox to Allowed apps and features list click on Allow another app.
  • Click on Browse to locate Roblox.
  • After clicking on Browse find Roblox Player’s shortcut. After finding Roblox Player’s shortcut select it. If you don’t have Roblox Player shortcut go to search and search for Roblox Player. After doing this go to Roblox’s file location. If the file location is not opened directly, either put the Roblox Player shortcut on the desktop or click on Roblox Player again and open Roblox’s file location. After going to Roblox’s file location right click on Roblox Player and click on Create a shortcut. The shortcut will be created on the desktop. From there you can select Roblox Player.
  • After selecting Roblox Player click on Open.
  • Click Add to continue.
  • Tick both boxes next to Roblox and click OK.

The third step is to optimize Roblox for high performance and disable optimizations for windowed games. This will prevent potential issues when launching Roblox. Here’s how:

  • Right click on the Windows icon.
  • Click on Settings.
  • Click on System from the left menu and click on Display.
  • Scroll down to Related settings and click on Graphics.
  • Type Roblox in the search bar. If you cannot find click on Browse and locate to the Roblox’s file location. If you didn’t install Roblox to different location the file location should be this: “C:\Users\”your username”\AppData\Local\Roblox\Versions\version-aa463de288b941f3”. Your version folder name can be different.
  • Click on Roblox and then click on Options.
  • Tick High performance and Don’t use optimizations for windowed games.
  • Click on Save.
